The practices, drugs and programmes discussed in longevity research, each with its own page reporting what named people or programmes propose and what trials tested and found. No protocol, practice or drug on this list has been shown to extend human lifespan. The most consistent human data, mostly from long observational studies, link physical activity, adequate sleep, maintained muscle mass and not smoking with longer life; the sauna data come from a Finnish cohort and show an association, not a trial result. Rapamycin, a transplant drug, and metformin, a diabetes drug, are studied for aging: rapamycin's lifespan results are mouse results, and the TAME trial of metformin, proposed in 2016, has published no results. The tiers of evidence are set out in The Honest Picture.
